X Corp. Cracks Down on Over 500,000 Accounts in India
Elon Musk's social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, has recently banned over 500,000 accounts in India for violations of its policies. Reuters reported that these accounts were suspended between January 26 and February 25 due to breaches of social media platform guidelines.
Total Accounts Suspended in February
The report reveals that X banned 506,173 accounts for offenses including promoting child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity. Furthermore, 1,982 accounts were suspended for promoting terrorism.
In total, X banned 508,155 accounts in India during the specified period. The platform also received approximately 14,421 complaints from Indian users through its grievance redressal mechanisms, with about 41 requests made regarding account suspensions.
The company stated, "We overturned 1 of these account suspensions after reviewing the specifics of the situation. The remaining reported accounts remain suspended." Additionally, they mentioned receiving 71 requests related to general questions about accounts during the reporting period.
This is not the first time X has banned accounts for violating its policies. From December 26 to January 25, the platform banned around 231,215 accounts in India and 1,945 accounts for promoting terrorism.

To avoid account suspension on X, adhere to the platform's policies. Refrain from posting content related to child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity.
