Pant Soars to Career-Best Ranking, Bumrah Holds Top Spot in Latest ICC Test Rankings
The latest ICC Test rankings showcase significant movements in the global cricket arena, following a week of remarkable performances in both Test and T20I formats. India’s Rishabh Pant and England’s Ben Duckett are the highlights of this update, achieving new career-high positions after their spectacular innings in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings after his outstanding centuries at Headingley. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman scored 134 and 118, becoming only the second wicketkeeper in Test history—after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 2001—to achieve hundreds in both innings of a match. Pant also becomes the first Indian Wicket-keeper batter to have 800 Rating points in Test History.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter globally, with his fellow countryman Harry Brook maintaining the second position. India’s captain Shubman Gill has also made progress, climbing five places to 20th after his elegant century in the first innings.
India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, continues to lead the ICC Test bowling rankings after another five-wicket haul at Headingley, underscoring his dominance with the red ball. England’s Ben Stokes, contributing with both bat and ball, has risen three places to claim the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings—his highest in recent months.
The T20I rankings have also seen notable changes following the tri-series in Glasgow, which included the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Dutch batter Michael Levitt has jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen has also made an impression, climbing 20 spots to joint 38th.
As the ICC rankings continue to serve as a key indicator of individual excellence, every run scored and every wicket taken plays a crucial role in shaping cricket's evolving hierarchy.
