Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India will conduct elections for the post of all its office-bearers - president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary and treasurer, in Mumbai on September 28.
In a notice, seen by TOI, to all the state associations, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated, "Notice is hereby given that the 94th Annual General Meeting (hereinafter referred to as “AGM”) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (“BCCI”), which will be held at 11.30 AM on September 28, 2025, at BCCI headquarters at Mumbai, to transact the business as per the agenda provided below."

"The minutes of the 93rd Annual General Meeting held on September 29, 2024, the minutes of the Special General Meeting held on January 1, 2025, and the minutes of the Special General Meeting held on March 1, 2025, are attached herewith. Rest of the agenda papers will follow shortly. You are kindly requested to attend the meeting," Saikia concluded.
Interestingly, September 28 also happens to be the date of the Asia Cup final in Dubai, which means that none of the top BCCI office-bearers of the Indian cricket Board will now be able to attend the summit clash of the tournament, even as it's being hosted by the BCCI.
The elections are likely to be held as per the Lodha reforms, with recently approved National Sports Governance Bill taking some time before getting implemented by the BCCI.
TimesofIndia.com had reported on September 2 that Rajeev Shukla, who became the interim president after Roger Binny stepped down from his post as he was disqualified after turning 70 on July 19 this year, has emerged as the front-runner to become the new BCCI president.
However, there's intense speculation lately about a top former India cricketer being approached for the post.
It is learnt that two well-known cricket administrators - current IPL chairman Arun Dhumal and former BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary - could be in the fray for the important post of the BCCI secretary, though the possibility of Saikia continuing in that post cannot be entirely ruled out.
Chaudhary, in fact, is tipped heavily to become the next IPL chairman too, should he miss out on the post of the new BCCI secretary.

Saikia, a former Assam wicketkeeper, was elected as the secretary of the BCCI on January 12, 2025. "Saikia has done a good job so far in the almost nine months that he has been in charge, driving the BCCI efficiently through a period where a lot has happened both on and off the field in Indian cricket. There's no reason to believe that he can't continue as the BCCI secretary," said those tracking developments.
A seasoned cricket administrator, Saikia was previously the BCCI joint secretary and secretary of the Assam Cricket Association. After the election of the former BCCI secretary Jay Shah to the position of Chair of the International Cricket Council, he also served as the acting interim secretary of the BCCI, before becoming the secretary of the Board.
Meanwhile, Goa's Rohan Desai is expected to continue as the joint secretary of the BCCI (has been in the post since March 1), and Chhattisgarh's Prabhtej Singh Bhatia is likely to stay as the BCCI treasurer (been in the post since January 12).
Amongst the other important items of the BCCI AGM are: Induction of two representatives of the Indian Cricketer’s Association in the Apex Council of the BCCI, election and induction of two representatives of the General Body in the Governing Council of the IPL, induction of one representative of ICA in the Governing Council of the IPL, formation of Women's Premier League Committee, appointment of the BCCI Ombudsman and Ethics Officer.
