Following India's recent defeat against England, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has suggested strategic changes to the team's composition, emphasizing the inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav in the upcoming second Test match.

Gavaskar believes that Kuldeep Yadav should replace Shardul Thakur for the second Test in Birmingham, anticipating favorable conditions for wrist spin. Speaking on Tuesday, Gavaskar stated, "Whether Jasprit Bumrah is fit or not, I think Kuldeep Yadav has to come into the team... because the Birmingham pitch will be one where there will be just a little bit of help for the wrist spinner."
Thakur's performance in the previous Test was underwhelming, managing only six overs and failing to take a wicket in the first innings, along with minimal runs in both innings. Despite a brief resurgence in the second innings by dismissing Ben Stokes and Harry Brook in quick succession, Gavaskar deemed his overall contribution insufficient.
Kuldeep Yadav, despite having played only one Test in England back in 2018, where he went wicketless, is seen as a potentially game-changing inclusion due to his unique spin variations.
Gavaskar also addressed concerns about the middle order, particularly the performance of debutant Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair, both of whom were dismissed for ducks in the first innings, leading to a collapse after a strong start.
While Gavaskar isn't currently advocating for their immediate removal from the team, he suggested a possible reshuffle if India faces another defeat. He stated, "If things don't go well in the second Test, maybe Sai (Sudharsan) and Karun (Nair)... Then I'd also look at Washington (Sundar), so that it really gives you a more solid batting, and also get a little more variety as far the bowling is concerned."
India aims to level the series against England at Edgbaston, with the match commencing on July 2nd.
